Meet Jess

Hi! I’m Jess. I’m a bisexual, cisgender, mid-sized, neurodivergent white woman with a deep passion for supporting LGBTQ+ communities through therapy, education, and connection.
I earned my BA in Sociology from Bowling Green State University and my Master’s in Social Work from The Ohio State University. I’ve built a career around holding space, building bridges, and creating affirming environments for healing, learning, and growth.
My Background
Most of my social work journey has focused on serving LGBTQ+ communities in both healthcare and mental health settings. I began at the Department of Veterans Affairs as the LGBTQ Veteran Care Coordinator Lead across 3 states, where I developed an LGBTQ+ education program that expanded to 15 VA medical centers nationwide.
I’ve always been drawn to education—using empathy, connection, and evidence-based knowledge to bridge gaps and create spaces where people feel open to learning and growth. I’ve presented at national and international conferences on LGBTQ+ health, and before launching this practice, I worked as a therapist and Education Coordinator at a private practice specializing in LGBTQ+ mental health.
What I Do Now
In my private practice, I offer:
- Affirming therapy
- Clinical supervision
- Consultation and training
I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ clients—particularly trans, gender expansive, and neurodivergent folks. I center intersectional identities, systemic oppression, and trauma in all areas of my work.
My Approach
My personality and style—both in therapy and in life—are grounded in warmth, humor, curiosity, and the belief that growth happens through authentic relationships. I bring in creativity, music, movement, embodiment practices, and just the right amount of chaos (thank you, neurodivergence) to meet people exactly where they are.
Whether I’m building trust in a therapy session or facilitating a training, I lead with empathy and honesty. I use evidence-based tools like CBT, CPT, Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness, but always adapt them to honor each person’s unique experience. I’m guided by what makes each person feel seen, safe, and supported. I’m deeply grateful to do work that aligns with my values—centering compassion, curiosity, and liberation.
Outside the Office
When I’m not working, you can find me: Singing along at live shows, cooking and sharing food, collecting books I fully intend to read, laughing and spending time with my people (and pets), crafting, and playing in my garden.
P.S.
If astrology and personality frameworks are your thing:
I’m an Aries sun, Pisces moon, Enneagram 2w3, and living my best ENFP life
